There's a purpose to it all of course: Eating well, working out, painting, developing hobbies. It is of course to develop the Self, self-value, self-worth. We spend so much time letting other people define us - how much they care about us, how often they text, when they call, what they say, if they invite us to that thing.
I've been doing lots of things to feel and value myself and my own time re: That last 'philosophical' blog post. This is of course the place for perfecting what we need to perfect. For developing skills, all the things we need to achieve the things we want to achieve.
It's important to not get lost in the self though, or lost trying to achieve something. We need to remember the important people in our life, friends, partners, family. And put time aside for them. Reach out, see how they are, offer support.
